Sonnys Bar Chex aka "Chex"

Sonnys Bar Chex aka "Chex"
Chex at the ABRA Show in Albany, Oregon. Chex and me at the Ranch during the photo shoot for the Living The Country Life magazine feature article. Chex's dam as an older lady.. They called her Lady! Miss Rodeo Oregon 2011 Mackenzie Carr riding Chex during the 2011 Chief Joseph Days Rodeo in Grand Entry and Run Ins! Chex during our engagement photos March 2011... leading the way in front of his son-Jigalow. Chex being ridden during a family night by a young lady doing an intership with me. June 2013 during breeding season Chex was with his mares and foals and he is just relaxing

2017 brought a GREAT foal crop and 2018 we have a few more coming! We know our time is limited but we are still so blessed to be able to raise some GREAT all around using foals each year.

2016 was the LAST year Chex will stood to any outside horses. He has done his time and at the age of 20 we retired him from outside breeding. We are excited that Chex is still doing exteremly well in health and we are able to cover our own ranch mares and have foals arriving in spring 2018. We have plans to breed him to a few of our own ranch mares again for 2019 foals.

Chex has proven himself in the show ring-winning show titles in open and breed shows. Chex was a 2 time NFQHA National show participant showing and placing in Team Penning, Reining, Barrels, Poles, Working Ranch Horse and Western Pleasure.   He has also been shown successfully in English Pleasure, Trail and Halter at open shows and a money winner in barrel racing. Beyond the show ring he works as a lesson horse, parade/drill team horse and a working part of the cattle ranch. Moving cattle to checking fences and trail riding, he is a trusted, graceful mount.  Chex is a truly powerful ride with grace of eagles flying on the wind.

Chex’s pride is beyond his own earnings, awards and points but to his offspring’s talent has stopped hearts, won admiration and most of all pleased their owners with money winnings, futurity titles, state fair placings, points, honors and all around talent for whatever. Chex’s foals are out there doing it all.  These horses are making owners proud as they perform in 4-H, open, breed and jackpots.  They are show horses with working ranch horse minds. So they are solid in barrel racing, roping, cutting, reining, trial, western pleasure, team penning, general ranch work and most of all, the all around companion for MEN, WOMEN and CHILDREN!!! Seeing is believing and yet owing is even more believing. MANY and I mean many clients have bought a Chex baby and then loved them so they either convinced friends to buy one or bought themselves two or three.

If what they do is not enough how about that COLOR! Many love to know they will be noticed for what they are riding, a gorgeous buttermilk buckskin or a beautiful bronze dun that shines in the sun, or the tiger stripes that POP as you look at their legs, or withers. The contrast of bright tan and BLACK! The blend of wild and tame in a look that drops mouths and makes people say, “Wow, look at that horse.” But we don’t stop at the great working mind and super COLOR! Chex is over 98% Dun factor! Dun factor (palominos, red duns, buckskins, duns, and grullas) with Bay, Sorrel and Chestnut mares.

Chex has the super conformation to help improve the little things or big things in your mare. He gives the Thoroughbreds long homely heads that pretty little face and doe eyes. They give those black tipped ears that slight curve and says look at me! Along with BIG Bone, solid feet, and great heart girth, short underline and all the rest of that GREAT STUFF! We can tell you these Chex horses are amazing. They are pleasing to handle and train. “I have found nothing more enjoyable than starting a Chex baby,” stated one owner whom trained his or her own Chex baby.  I have trained five myself and love the working attitude and no buck willingness.

You will love your Chex foal no matter what you do with your horses.
